Welcome to Whopperjawed.com, a multi-purpose website devoted to promoting the development of independent music, video, film, sculpture, and photography of the Midsouth. Hopefully, we are a little “off-center” from mainstream media. Digital media technology has now evolved to the point where we, as working artists, have within our grasp the means to produce, publish, promote, and even sell the issue of our endeavors all over the world. Whopperjawed is intended as a work in progress, a place where one can browse, sample, or even purchase music, video clips, and stories. We will attempt to provide a running account of all projects current and
past. One ongoing project is the digitizing and preservation of old recordings, film, video, and photographs. Our intention is to publish and present whatever is appropriate of these projects to the public, some as CDs, some in documentary form as DVDs.
We are developing quite a library to work from,
especially in the form of photographs and ¼ inch analogue tape
recordings, and are constantly searching for more relevant
materials now hidden away in people’s closets and attics, to
save, preserve, and share these treasures before they degrade,
or are lost. If anyone has, or knows where there are any such
materials that they think might be of interest, please contact don@whopperjawed.com
There are certain rich veins of indigenous Southern music that have largely gone unnoticed by the world in general. It is our intention to promote these through both archival and current recordings, interviews, and video.
The Southern film and video scene changes, and is growing so rapidly, we will attempt but to keep the public abreast of only the portions of it of which we are familiar with, or directly involved in.
The only constant in life is that things change.
We will continue to try and change with it. Hope you will, too.
Thank you,
Don E. McGregor |
